Thanks to all who prayed for those affected by the Waldo Canyon fire. It is estimated that the fire is 55 percent contained and all but 3,000 of the 32,000 evacuees have been able to return to their homes. The fire has claimed two lives, destroyed 346 homes, and consumed nearly 18,000 acres. Because of the loss of structures, the Waldo Canyon fire is now considered to be the worst wildfire in Colorado history. Although containment efforts have been successful so far, officials warn that the fire could continue to wreak havoc, particularly with the ongoing forecast of high heat, moderate winds, and little or no rain.
The National Office remains out of harm’s way; none of the staff suffered any property loss or remain in evacuation status. On Sunday, July 1, staff members at the Front Range Alliance Church were able to enter the building and found minimal smoke damage, even though the fire had encroached on the church property from two sides. Praise God for His mercy and protection.
Continue to pray for:
Two families at Front Range Alliance who lost their homes to the fire and a third family whose home was damaged.
The ministry of Front Range Alliance in its community. Now surrounded by devastated structures and lives, the church is seeking God’s specific direction for its future as an agent of restoration in its community.
The greater Colorado Springs church community as it seeks to offer help and hope to families in need.
The safety of the firefighters who continue to work tirelessly to contain the blaze and protect the citizens of Colorado Springs and surrounding communities.
A respite in the weather; pray that God will cool the air, calm the winds, and send the rains.
Mali
Continue to pray for Mali, where things are at a standstill. Fighting, suffering, and discontent continue in the north. Starting July 4, a daily “sit-in” by displaced people from that area is scheduled at the Peace Monument in Bamako. Refugees plan to continue this until a resolution to the problems in the north is found. Pray for a peaceful outcome to all of this.
Syria
Continue to pray for peace in Syria, where hundreds of families have fled to neighboring countries since the country’s unrest began in March 2011. Pray that God will protect His people and end the violence. Also, pray that believers will demonstrate Christ’s love and that God will be glorified in this situation.
