Jump into your boots and grab your hats y'all – we're going to the RANCH!

By Lori Storey

CNC will be conducting LifeWay’s “Saddle Ridge Ranch™: Roundin’ Up Questions, Drivin’ Home Answers” for Vacation Bible School this year. We want your children to join us for the fun and excitement! We’ll hear Bible stories, play games, and have fun snacks at the Big Sky Grill. Along the way we will enjoy recreation at Mustang Mountain, learn about missions at Firefly Cavern, make crafts at Blazing Star Stables, and sing songs at Campfire Creek.

We’ll be roundin’ up some of life’s biggest questions and drivin’ home answers as we explore the wide open spaces on Saddle Ridge Ranch. Join us as we discover who we are, that God cares about us, God has a plan for us, how we can be like Jesus, and what to do with all we’ve learned.

As your Trail Boss, I’ll be roundin’ up some Ranch Hands to help out with all the Cowpokes. Watch for the VBS table in Rudat Hall in May. I’ll have sign-up sheets for the Support Teams, which will include prayer, promotion, telephone, snack, records, worship, technology, security, and follow-up. Classroom teachers and helpers are also needed.

Saddle Ridge Ranch will be held July 26 – 30 from 9:00 am to noon at CNC. Feel free to contact me with any questions. You can reach me 363-1188 or lori@cnchurch.org. Giddy up!

Journey with Jesus

UrPZwZBy Lori Storey

I have selected the curriculum for the next quarter in Kids Church and Susan Wright and I are very excited about it. It is called “Journey With Jesus” and is designed to be taught between Christmas and Easter. The children will “travel with Jesus through the cities where His ministry came alive!”

In this exciting adventure, we will visit Bethlehem to learn of an amazing arrival, Cana where a wedding party is rescued, Capernaum where a roof collapses, Bethany to see a dead man walk out of a tomb, and the Mount of Olives to witness an awesome ascension.

My prayer is that at the end of their “Journey With Jesus” the children will be better equipped to take Jesus along as they journey through their own lives.

If you would like to lead the kids on this journey or come along for the ride, please contact me at 363-1188 or lori@cnchurch.org. We’d love for you to join us!

Nursery Advancement

By Jessica Davies

All nursery kids 2 1/2 and older:

You are getting so big and experiencing new things every day. You have outgrown the nursery and are ready to join the preschool room. We are sad to see you go, but know that you will love being in the big kid’s room. You will have new friends to play with, new toys to explore, crafts to do, and Bible stories to hear. January 24 will start this new adventure for you. So make sure your parents know to take you to the preschool room starting that day. If you feel you’re not ready for this next step or if your parents have any concerns, I am available to answer questions.

Excited for you,

Jessica Davies, Nursery Director, jessica@cnchurch.org

Calling all Step Moms and soon to be Step Moms

I am starting a class on January 24th, to help us become “Smart Stepmoms”. This book will help us to deal with the ups and downs of being a stepmom. The study will be 14 weeks long. We will meet at 9:30am on Sundays. Room to be determined. The author of “Smart Stepmoms,” also wrote “Smart Stepfamilies”. His co author for our book is Laura Petherbridge. If you are interested in this class please let me know, so I can order enough books for our class.  You can contact me at the church office, 635-5992.

Signs of Christmas

We're having fun in Children's Ministry!

By Lori Story, Children’s Ministry Director

Lori In my first two months as the Children’s Ministry Director, I have started to settle in to my new role.  It’s been a challenge – in a good way!  I have enjoyed getting to know a lot of the kids and am looking forward to watching them grow, both taller and in their walk with the Lord.

If your child(ren) attend Kid’s Church, you have no doubt heard about KC Bucks (KC = Kid’s Church).  I got this idea from my brother, a Children’s Pastor in West Virginia.  It’s a reward system that immediately recognizes good behavior and has immediate consequences for not so good behavior.>

The kids get five KC Bucks for coming to Kid’s Church and another five for memorizing their Bible verse.  There are ways they can earn extras, like answering questions correctly, helping set-up or clean-up, or bringing a friend to church.  They can have KC Bucks taken away for talking out of turn.

On the first Sunday of the month, I open the KC General Store.  The kids get to purchase one item and have the option of contributing to the KC Party Fund.  The KC General store was open for the first time on October 4 and the kids contributed 203 KC Bucks!  When the Party Fund reaches 500 KC Bucks, they will have – you guessed it – a party!  They will be choosing the type of party to have.  So far, pizza and ice cream are the most popular ideas.  Although I did get a suggestion for a pizza/cupcake/ice cream/pool party!

If you are interested in teaching or helping in Sunday School or Children’s Church during the Advent season (November 15 through December 27) please let me know.   You can email me at lori@cnchurch.org or call me at 363-1188.
