CLUB Silent Auction and Bake Sale

April 14

CLUB is raising funds for their program for seniors and a new outdoor activities area. Their annual Silent Auction always provides some great buys for bidders and needed funds for this worthy program.

Do you know of an individual or business who would donate an item to be offered at the auction? It is a great way to advertise. Callen Pool Supplies is already donating River Cats tickets. Who can you contact about a donation? Let Flora Maloney or the church office know.

Then, of course, be sure to be her April 14, ready to bid.

The Art of Marriage

The Art of Marriage Event is a video experience designed for church and community settings. The Art of Marriage Event consists of six video sessions held on a Friday night and Saturday. These videos combine dramatic stories, real-life testimonies, expert interviews, humorous vignettes and other teaching methods to lay out God’s design for marriage in a fresh, engaging way. Guests attending the event are each provided a manual with projects to help them apply the principles taught in each session, augmented by dozens of articles and additional content to help them dive deeper. Over 175,000 people have attended one of over 3000 events held since its launch in February 2011!

The Art of Marriage is coming back to Cordova Neighborhood Church.

Understanding Your Mormon Friends

Led by Pastor and Elise Gaube

The purpose of this class is to improve the dialog between you and your Mormon friends. While there are similarities on social issues, there is also a lot of fuzzy thinking about Mormon beliefs. A big block to meaningful dialog between biblical followers of Christ and Mormons is the enormous misconceptions we have of each other.

Elise and I pastored in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Idaho Falls, Idaho, for 18 years. They were both about 70% Mormon at the time. We became friends with our neighbors many of whom were multigenerational Mormons.

One of our main goals is to help us define the terminology that is being used so we may better understand each other. We ask those who attend to have an attitude of respect and there will be no political discussion.

RSVP today at Susan@CNChurch.org.

Circle of Friends Book Club

By Edward Strom
At our next meeting, at 2:00 PM February 14, 2012 at the Waffle House, Southeast of Zinfandel and Folsom, we will be discussing True Honor by Dee Henderson. All adults are welcome at our meeting. And you don’t have to read all the book to come and enjoy getting everyones’ impressions. If you would like, have short portions of the book annotated for a oral reading at the meeting.

For the March 13 meeting, we will discuss Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safram Foer. On April 10, we will discuss The Promise of Hope by Edward Grinnan.

Hope to see all our readers at the next meeting! If you have any questions please give me a call at 916-812-5290.
