Our History

The Reverend and Mrs. Samuel E. Rudat founded our church in 1955 as they caught God’s vision to minister to the then new community of Rancho Cordova.

A Rancho Cordova ChurchThe church first met in the Rudat’s home, then at several local business locations until moving to our present site in 1960.

In 1977, the congregation welcomed Reverend and Mrs. James Voss. 1984 saw our new sanctuary completed to God’s glory. Volunteers did most of the construction work. Our doors were opened to a group of Hmong from Laos, who had immigrated to this area. In 1985 they established their own congregation and continued to share our facility until April, 1994 when they purchased their own building.

In November 1990, Reverend and Mrs. Michael E. Mitchum came to us from Piedmont, California. Pastor Mike holds a Masters of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He is married and has two children. Mike has been very involved in the community.

Pastor Mike’s insight into our community and its needs brought about the implementation of target ministries. With this, we are able to reach out and minister to our neighborhood while addressing their needs. Ministries that have come out of this effort are Neighborhood Meals, Seniors in Service for Christ, Volunteers in Tax Assistance, Respite Club and more. These efforts have truly built a strong foundation for our growing church.

In November 1999 we purchased the property adjacent to the church with a dream of building a Family Ministries Facility and adding on to our current building. In January 2006, we officially opened our new children's wing thus completing phase 1 of "Building the Neighborhood".

We are currently in the process of obtaining a childcare license so that we may open an affordable before and after school childcare center.
