Having been involved in missions for 30 years, I can tell you that one of the most important contributions we can make is to pray on their behalf. Prayer is the place of victory. You may wonder how can it help, but it does, significantly! With that in mind here is a list of suggestions of how you can pray, on a daily basis, for our missionaries.
Sunday
Pray for their relationship with God
• Consistent and profitable devotional life
• Awareness of God’s power
• Good times in prayer and the Word
• Protection from temptation and sin
Monday
Pray for physical and emotional health
• General health and healing
• Loneliness, freedom from depression
• Finances and the cost of living
• Safety
• Time to smell the flowers
Tuesday
Pray for their family life
• Healthy marriages
• Children
• Open communication
• Older parents at home
Wednesday
Pray for communication
• Fluency in the language
• Cultural adaptation and understanding
• Relationship with the offices and churches at home
Thursday
Pray for effective ministry
• Open doors for evangelism
• Ability to communicate
• Good use of time
Friday
Pray about relationships with co-workers
• Honesty and openness
• Appreciate others’ strengths
• Submit to one another
• A sense of humor
Saturday
Pray for their adopted country
• Political situation and economic conditions
• Issues of wealth and poverty
• Visas
• Spiritual battles
• Strong national church
