Alliance founder Dr. A. B. Simpson defined the C&MA’s spiritual DNA more than 100 years ago, referring to it as the Fourfold Gospel; it’s the heart of what Alliance people believe about Jesus and forms the foundation of all that defines The Alliance movement. The fourfold gospel declares that Jesus is our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming King.
This sermon series will take us through Easter Sunday. Our focus will be on the day of Easter, the events of the resurrection. We'll be looking at living out what the resurrection means for our lives. We want to find some practices that will help us every day to live out the fact that Jesus our Lord has risen.
God's love prompts him to offer forgiveness from sin through faith in his son Jesus Christ. Just as the Ninevites would have been judged if they did not repent so those who do not accept Christ’s forgiveness will be judged. Our response to sinners should be to show the same grace and compassion toward them in offering repentance as God does.
Our series on Daniel encouraged us that despite the seeming chaos of our world God is in control. But the full story is that part of God's will is that we are given the freedom to make choices in our lives. In other words, while God is control, we are also in control. But what do we actually have control over? In the month of January we will be exploring this question.
Even though Daniel and his friends were living in a culture antagonistic to their faith, they were faithful to God. We too, live in a culture foreign to those faithful to Jesus. Fortunately, He is faithful an sovereign. He wil not desert us and He is powerful enough to control the outcome of history
The first step in following Jesus after one has become a Christian is to submit one's will to Him. We need to become aware that we are yoked with him for life. That means allowing him to set the direction knowing we will go where he goes. Much of the pain and frustration in life comes from trying to go our own way. When we follow him, he does the heavy lifting, and we will find his will easy and light by comparison to setting our own course.
He answered, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, 'Love your neighbor as yoursef." Luke 10:L27 This verse sums up what Cordova Neighborhood Church is all about. This sermon series from 2011 explains what it means to love God and love our neighbor.
