Fun at Vacation Bible School

It Takes a Church

By Lori Storey

I am so excited about Vacation Bible School! This year’s program, Saddle Ridge Ranch, is full of great Bible lessons, exciting activities, and amazing opportunities to share the love of Jesus with the children. I am thrilled that all the children from the Big Kids Club will be attending, many of whom do not attend church regularly. What a great way to get these kids excited about God’s Word!

You’ve heard the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Likewise, it takes a church to produce a successful VBS. Volunteers are needed in all areas listed below. Which sounds like the best fit for you?

  • Prayer Team – Prays for all aspects of VBS.
  • Promotion Team – Invites the church and community to participate in VBS. Promotional flyers are available. Just ask Lori!
  • Telephone Team – Calls church members and prospects to personally invite them to VBS.
  • Decorating Team – Decorates the Sanctuary, Rudat Hall, and the classrooms with a ranch theme. Also assists in removing decorations immediately following Friday’s closing rally.
  • Records Team – Registers children before and during VBS, collects important information on all participants for follow-up, and keeps daily attendance and decision records.
  • Worship Team – Leads the Worship Rally each day using the VBS curriculum.
  • Classroom Leader – Teaches a Bible lesson each morning from the VBS curriculum.
  • Classroom Helper – Provides support to the Classroom Leader and helps get the kids in the right place at the right time.
  • Missions Team – Teaches a missions related lesson each morning from the VBS curriculum.
  • Snack Team – Coordinates preparation and serving of theme-related snacks (recipe cards provided with VBS curriculum).
  • Craft Team – Leads the children in creating theme-related crafts each day (craft packs will be supplied).
  • Security Team – Monitors the parking and other outdoor areas.
  • Follow-up Team – Leads the follow-up events, visits prospects, mails follow-up letters, and sorts or stores supplies.

Vacation Bible School depends on the willingness of our church members to give their time and energy toward making it a success. I know this is going to be a very fun week not just for the kids, but for the volunteers as well. Contact me and let me know which area you can put your gifts and talents to wonderful use. This will be a week to remember!

We need your help on July 2

Friday evening, July 2nd, CNC women’s ministry will be having a cookout to go along with the BKC carnival, water volleyball and fireworks. Please help support women’s ministry in one of several ways . . .

  • Buy your hot dog or hamburger meal from our stand.
  • Volunteer: set-up, cooking, serving, cashier, clean-up.
  • Spread the word and bring guests.

The money we earn will go into our fund for future events like the Christmas party, Missionary Tea, Mother’s Day gift, and annual Retreat. To sign-up or to get your questions answered, call Susan Wright at 949-0724.

Are you able to help with the carnival?

Areas of needed assistance…

Game booth attendants — Waterslide supervision — Dunk tank participants

A few borrowed pop-up tents — Closing duties (simply carrying items indoors)

If you’re interested in having fun and can help, please call Miss Angie

at the Big Kids Club 439-5307. Thank you!

Then on Saturday, July 3rd, 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., come join us for the parade or buy breakfast or novelty items at the Big Kids Club corner store – located in the CNC small parking lot.

Child Care Summer Camp at CNC

By Angie Mikula

Are you looking for a fun place to take your children during the summer? You may want to try the Big Kids Club, here at CNC. This summer will be our 4th year of celebration!

Once the school session ends on May 31, the BKC kicks the elements of fun into overdrive, with 3 field trips a week! Some of this year’s activities include:

    • Swimming at Hagan Park (at least 2-3 times a week)
    • Kings Skate
    • Stone Creek (Water) Park
    • Folsom’s Movie Theater (to see Toy Story 3)
    • Daily Bible Lessons
    • Chuck E. Cheese
    • Breakfast, lunch & snack is served (free) daily
    • Sky High (trampoline arena)
    • Chef BKC (where children learn to cook every Monday)
    • VBS at CNC
    • Sports camp every Friday

Enrolling before mid-May is highly suggested, as we fill up with 40+ school-age children each year. Please call Miss Angie at 439-5307. Tuition during the summer is $145 weekly.

Tuition decreases once the children go back to school, to accommodate the before and after school care we also offer. Preschool and school-age care is available year round. Thank you for reading this. Hope to see you soon!

Jump into your boots and grab your hats y'all – we're going to the RANCH!

CNC will be conducting LifeWay’s “Saddle Ridge Ranch™: Roundin’ Up Questions, Drivin’ Home Answers” for Vacation Bible School this year. We want your children to join us for the fun and excitement! We’ll hear Bible stories, play games, and have fun snacks at the Big Sky Grill. Along the way we will enjoy recreation at Mustang Mountain, learn about missions at Firefly Cavern, make crafts at Blazing Star Stables, and sing songs at Campfire Creek.

We’ll be roundin’ up some of life’s biggest questions and drivin’ home answers as we explore the wide open spaces on Saddle Ridge Ranch. Join us as we discover who we are, that God cares about us, God has a plan for us, how we can be like Jesus, and what to do with all we’ve learned.

As your Trail Boss, I’ll be roundin’ up some Ranch Hands to help out with all the Cowpokes. Watch for the VBS table in Rudat Hall in May. I’ll have sign-up sheets for the Support Teams, which will include prayer, promotion, telephone, snack, records, worship, technology, security, and follow-up. Classroom teachers and helpers are also needed.

Saddle Ridge Ranch will be held July 26 – 30 from 9:00 am to noon at CNC. Feel free to contact me with any questions. You can reach me 363-1188 or lori@cnchurch.org. Giddy up!

Journey with Jesus

UrPZwZBy Lori Storey

I have selected the curriculum for the next quarter in Kids Church and Susan Wright and I are very excited about it. It is called “Journey With Jesus” and is designed to be taught between Christmas and Easter. The children will “travel with Jesus through the cities where His ministry came alive!”

In this exciting adventure, we will visit Bethlehem to learn of an amazing arrival, Cana where a wedding party is rescued, Capernaum where a roof collapses, Bethany to see a dead man walk out of a tomb, and the Mount of Olives to witness an awesome ascension.

My prayer is that at the end of their “Journey With Jesus” the children will be better equipped to take Jesus along as they journey through their own lives.

If you would like to lead the kids on this journey or come along for the ride, please contact me at 363-1188 or lori@cnchurch.org. We’d love for you to join us!

Nursery Advancement

By Jessica Davies

All nursery kids 2 1/2 and older:

You are getting so big and experiencing new things every day. You have outgrown the nursery and are ready to join the preschool room. We are sad to see you go, but know that you will love being in the big kid’s room. You will have new friends to play with, new toys to explore, crafts to do, and Bible stories to hear. January 24 will start this new adventure for you. So make sure your parents know to take you to the preschool room starting that day. If you feel you’re not ready for this next step or if your parents have any concerns, I am available to answer questions.

Excited for you,

Jessica Davies, Nursery Director, jessica@cnchurch.org
