On a recent Sunday morning, many of us gathered to eat ice cream and read the book of Galatians. As people ate their ice cream, they read through the six-chapter book. I knew that everyone present could, and I hope did, encounter the living God through His living word simply by the act of reading it. But I also knew that Paul’s letter is dense with cultural and theological meaning and a single reading would not do justice to the richness of his letter. There is a card making class on Friday, August 9 at church. Gillian Rouge will lead us in making 12 cards (for only $10!). There will be a choice of papers and sentiments. Toni has this to say about Gillian’s class, “I’ve been to her classes and she is an awesome teacher. She makes everything go so smooth and you leave feeling so proud of what you made. What a great event the community breakfast was! We were able to feed everyone who came; almost 400 pancakes were served! The music and kids' zone added to the fun. Thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered despite the heat.
