The Easter Cross Challenge

Celebrate Easter while you Shelter-at-Home. Take the Easter Cross Challenge! It's simple and the whole family can participate. Here's the challenge: Make a cross and put it in your yard or front window. It can be simple or fancy, big or small, it's up to you. Let your creativity go! You can even have everyone in the household make a cross. Once your cross is on display, take a pic and post it here and tag it #TheEasterCrossChallenge Finally, nominate someone else to take the challenge! When you post your picture, just add the line, "I nominate (name) to take #TheEasterCrossChallenge. We look forward to seeing crosses pop up all over town!

Our response to Covid-19

As you may or may not have heard, in light of the Covid19 emergency, California is now recommending that large community gatherings that can not provide six feet of separation between individuals should not meet for the remainder of March. They are particularly insistent that large gatherings with a high population of individuals age 60 and above not meet as those individuals are at highest risk for the most serious effects of the virus. Cordova Neighborhood Church falls into this high-risk group. This morning, the elders, Pastor Susan, and I met to consider our response to this unprecedented situation. Final Jeopardy -- “Who models joy, patience, and faithfulness?”

Pastor Phil Cooley One year ago, Alex Trebek, the long-time host of the tv game show Jeopardy announced that he had advanced stage pancreatic cancer; a cancer that is both incredibly painful and highly fatal.  Since that first announcement, Trebek has kept his fans well informed both of his progress, good and bad, and his reflections on life as he contemplates his own mortality.  In all these brief moments I have been amazed by his attitude. 2020 Mexicali Missions Trip Update

Jon Robertson We’re delighted to report that we have a team going to Mexicali, April 4 through 11 this year. God is good and willing to lead us. Gil Blanco, Mexicali Mission Base Director, and his team are also very thankful for our willingness to invest in their ministry and local people. We will be the only team there at this time. During our visit, we will be participating in various outreach ministries including: at an orphanage, a homeless ministry, at Gil’s church where we will provide Vacation Bible School during the early evenings and other not yet identified opportunities. In addition, we will be working on some projects at the base and at the new church. There is still room for yo

March Highlights for PEP 55+

Here are some highlights for this month. 4th Sunday Meal in March will be on March 22. We’ll meet at the Spaghetti Factory in Folsom. RSVP to Connie or on the sign-up sheet by March 19. 5th Tuesday Movie is March 31, 2:00 pm at church. We will watch Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse. Pastor Phil hasn’t led us astray yet; so sign up and join us. Let’s see what Pastor has to say about this movie. This is a no-cost event. Free on a Thursday morning? Pastor Susan Wright CNC Women’s Reading Group, Monday, March 9. We’ll meet at church and discuss Smoke Screen by Terri Blackstock. Check out the bulletin board for upcoming book selections.
